We always ask that previous centre and candidate details are provided at the point of making entries for each series, which is particularly important in cases where we need to link the candidate's previous results with their current entry in order to carry marks forward. Where a candidate has more than one set of previous centre and candidate details, we ask that the most recent previous series' details are included when making entries.
So, as long as the candidate's current entry includes the previous centre and candidate numbers from their most recent previous series, we will be able to link their entries across all three series.
As an example, if a candidate entering in the June series has AS marks they wish to carry forward from the previous November series for one syllabus and from the previous June series for another, you should provide their previous November details. When their November entry was made their details from the previous June series should have been included, meaning we can link their entries across all three series.
However, even if this was not the case, in the event that previous centre and candidate details are not provided at the point of making an entry, we carry out a number of checks in an attempt to locate the candidate's previous results based on their name, date of birth etc. Should we be unable to locate the corresponding AS marks as part of these checks, we may need to contact the centre for any information that had been omitted, who can simply confirm the details required at that point.
In terms of making sure the correct previous series' AS mark is carried forward for each syllabus, if the centre selects a Staged option in the upcoming series the option code itself indicates whether the AS mark is being carried forward from the previous June or November series by the carry forward component that is included within the option code selected. The provision of previous candidate details is simply a means by which we can validate it is the same candidate across multiple series.
