We provide full details of the rules and procedures that affect whether a candidate’s mark from a previous exam series can be carried forward in our Carry-forward regulations supplement. This guide can be found on this page of our website under 'Key documents for exams officers'.
The guide outlines all of the requirements for carrying marks forward, but two key rules to be aware of state that marks can only be carried forward if:
- the current series and the previous series the mark is being carried forward from are within a 13 month period of each other, and;
- the syllabus concerned includes the relevant carry forward options.
Centres can see all of the possible entry options for each syllabus in the relevant series’ Guide to Making Entries, including any available carry forward options.
