Candidates cannot carry forward a mark from a series that is more than 13 months before the current series. We are not able to offer an extension to the 13 month carry forward rule.
We explain how this rule is applied and why it is in place in section 2.2 of our Carry-forward regulations supplement under the heading 'Rule 1: 13-month rule'. This guide can be found on this page of our website under 'Key documents for exams officers'.
If a candidate wishes to receive a full A Level result and their AS result was achieved more than 13 months before the current series, meaning their previous AS mark can no longer be carried forward, they would need to sit the AS components again.
