Admission requirements for South African public universities

Students who want to progress to university in South Africa need to hold a Senior Certificate with Matriculation Endorsement. However, Universities South Africa will grant Exemption Certificates to holders of Cambridge International AS and A Levels provided they meet certain criteria and subject group requirements.

Working closely with Universities South Africa, we have produced an easy reference guide to the minimum admission requirements for exemption into South African public universities for Bachelor Degree purposes. The guide summarises exemption criteria for students holding Cambridge qualifications. This means that Cambridge schools and learners can now see at a glance the various group, grade and subject options for Cambridge qualifications which are necessary to fulfil the exemption requirements.

For detailed exemption regulations, please consult the Government Notice, Higher Education Act 1997 (Act 101 of 1997).

Please refer to the document here for further details.
