The Cambridge International AS Level English General Paper syllabus is intended to be a test of the extent to which a candidate has achieved a maturity of thought and expression using English rather than a test of English as a Foreign Language. Universities can specify which qualifications they will accept so you must contact the university concerned to check if they accept the General Paper. In addition, if you took other Cambridge examinations through the medium of English you should highlight this in your UCAS application; for example, you could mention this in your personal statement. Some universities may accept General Paper grades in lieu of a Cambridge O Level or Cambridge IGCSE in English as follows:
