Can students write a comparative essay for their coursework assignment?

There is no requirement for students to compare texts when submitting assignments for coursework – students each year attain top marks by writing about texts singularly. However, there is nothing in the mark scheme to prevent students from comparing texts - when done well it can effectively improve a response.
