The updated Coursework Handbook for Cambridge IGCSE Design & Technology (0445) for examinations from 2028 is not yet available. The guidance below indicates which sections of the current Coursework Handbook may continue to support the delivery of Component 2 Project

However, centres should always use the 2028-2030 syllabus as the definitive guide to the current assessment requirements, guidance and marking criteria for Component 2 Project. Are the introductory sections of the current Coursework Handbook still relevant?

Yes. The guidance on pages 5-7 of the current Coursework Handbook remains largely applicable. However, centres should note that component titles and aspects of the assessment structure have changed, so these sections should be read alongside the 2028-2030 syllabus.

Will new exemplar coursework be available?

We are commissioning new exemplar coursework materials to support the revised syllabus. These resources are intended to provide examples of how the updated assessment criteria can be evidenced in candidate work. Centres should continue to monitor the School Support Hub for updates on the availability of these materials.

A Scheme of Work for the 2028-2030 Cambridge IGCSE Design & Technology syllabus is available on the School Support Hub. Centres may find this resource helpful when planning teaching and learning activities and when mapping coursework activities to the new syllabus requirements.
