We have a candidate with a food allergy (e.g. nuts, eggs). How should we manage this during the Practical Test?

Candidates must normally be allocated their selected tests in strict alphabetical order by surname. However, centres may make reasonable adjustments for candidates with allergies.

If a candidate is allocated a test that is not suitable due to their allergy (for example, a task requiring eggs), the centre may:

• Allocate an alternative test to that candidate, where necessary
• Schedule the candidate to complete the practical at a different time from others using the allergen

There should usually be at least one suitable test available that avoids the allergen.

Where an alternative test is allocated or different arrangements are made, the centre must include a clear explanation in the Examiner’s report for moderation.
