The examiner can be a teacher in the centre who is suitably qualified in Food and Nutrition. Ideally, the teacher should not be the candidates’ class teacher but another Food and Nutrition teacher.
Examiners should refer to the Practical Test handbook and the Guidance for skill levels document available to download from the School Support Hub, to ensure the mark scheme is accurately and consistently applied. The Practical Test Handbook contains important guidance and examples for the marking of the practical component and the internal moderation of the component within each centre. The Guidance for skill levels provides advise on the suitability of each choice in terms of meeting the demands of the allocated tests as well as the quality of the results.
We recommend that one examiner conducts and assesses the Practical Tests at the centre for up to 30 candidates. If the centre is entering more than 30 candidates and need to use more than one examiner, they should internally moderate the coursework. You can find further information on the process of internal moderation in the Practical Test Handbook. You should record the internally moderated marks for all candidates on the Practical Test Summary Mark Sheet and submit these marks to Cambridge International according to the instructions set out in the Cambridge Handbook for the relevant year of assessment.
