Our Recognitions department advise that Universities will generally not accept this qualification as proof of English proficiency as the level of the IGCSE English as an Additional Language is lower than the typical minimum requirement for university admission for an English taught programme.
With regards proof of language proficiency, please note that for study at undergraduate degree level in the UK, you are typically required to have a minimum of CEFR Level B2 in all four language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. The syllabus IGCSE English as an Additional Language 0472/0772 is designed to include items with output from CEFR A2 to B1. It is designed for candidates with little formal experience of English and who need a good foundation in English. It develops practical language skills and helps builds confidence in communicating in English.
