Should candidates/are candidates allowed to use subheadings when writing an article?

Formatting (including the use of sub-headings) is not assessed in the extended writing tasks on 0510/0511 IGCSE English as a Second Language, Reading and Writing. Please refer to the published mark schemes – Marking criteria for Questions 16 & 17.

The use of sub-headings may be used in an article response if candidates wish to use them to help them with the organisation of their response. However, sub-headings (if used) are more suited to the genre of report writing.
