What are the rules that centres must follow when deciding whether to enter a candidate for syllabus 0530 IGCSE Foreign Language Spanish or syllabus 0502 IGCSE First Language Spanish?

The 0530 IGCSE Spanish syllabus is suitable for candidates who are non-native speakers of Spanish. It has been designed to help candidates develop language proficiency to level A2 (Basic User) with some elements of proficiency at level B1 (Independent User) of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (CEFR).

Whereas, the 0502 Cambridge IGCSE First Language Spanish is designed for learners whose mother tongue is Spanish.

Our qualifications are open to all students at registered centres and we rely on the guidance of teachers to ensure that learners enter the examination which is most appropriate to their needs. However, centres may set entry requirements for candidates to take exams.
