Can native Mandarin speakers take the IGCSE Mandarin Chinese Foreign Language (0547) syllabus?

The 0547 syllabus is designed for students studying Mandarin Chinese as a foreign language. There is another Mandarin Chinese syllabus more suitable for students whose first language is Mandarin Chinese which is Syllabus 0509. Centres can decide which syllabus their candidates enter for but the 0547 syllabus qualification will only demonstrate competency in the Mandarin Chinese language up to level A2 (Basic User) of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (CEFR).
