Will candidates be penalised if they make a spelling mistake of scientific terms or names?

A candidate’s level of English is not assessed in Cambridge examinations (except English examinations), so examiners will not penalise candidates for misspelling a scientific term or name, so long as the word is still recognisable and cannot be confused with another similar syllabus term. Extra care should be taken with similarly spelt scientific words such as nucleus/nucleon and fission/fusion.
