Paper 1 - Writing: if candidates are asked to write an email, is it acceptable for candidates to use colloquial/informal language?

Using informal language in writing is acceptable as long as it is appropriate for the task. Candidates are expected to match the degree of formality of language to the context, audience and purpose of the writing as described by the rubric.
