There are no Cambridge Checkpoint assessments for Art and Design, Music, Physical Education or Digital Literacy as research shows that an assessment overload for learners of this age can be detrimental.
These subjects should be assessed in the classroom through discussion, observation and lesson outputs where teachers discuss with learners ‘what went well’ and how they can improve further, so they can reflect on, and improve, their performance.
To support teachers assessing these subjects in the classroom, we have produced assessment guidance for each subject, which is on the Cambridge Lower Secondary support site. The assessment guidance includes activities that can be used to assess learners’ progress and different reporting styles.
