Component 4: How recent should the case study texts be?

Case studies should always focus on contemporary texts (ones released within the last five years of the exam series) as their main source, although older texts may be useful if providing context. Candidates should be discouraged from relying on older texts for the majority of the case study as the pace of development means these texts are unlikely to provide much relevance to the topics and questions set.
