Component 1 - Does Cambridge set the themes for coursework?

No, the candidate, in consultation with the teacher will identify/select an appropriate theme. Some students may have a very clear idea about what topics/themes they want to work on, but this should be discussed with the teacher to ensure the theme is appropriate and provides enough scope to cover the syllabus requirements and assessment objectives. Some students may prefer a clearer teacher led brief with a more directed approach. Teachers may want to look at sample briefs and themes that are available to download from the School Support Hub or past papers for inspiration and ideas.
