Why have my students received an AS Level grade when they were entered for an A Level?

If a candidate receives a Cambridge International AS Level result but was entered for a Cambridge International A Level examination, it shows that the candidate reached the standard required in the AS papers but not in the A Level as a whole. Cambridge awards the candidate the result that they would have achieved if they had been entered for the Cambridge International AS Level.
