Will candidates be penalised if they make a spelling mistake of scientific terms or names?

A candidate’s level of English is not assessed in Cambridge examinations (except English examinations), so examiners will not penalise candidates for the phonetic spelling of correct scientific terminology (so long as the word is recognisable) unless there is confusion with another scientific term.  Extra care should be taken with scientific words such as mitosis, meiosis, glycogen, and glucagon.
