Cambridge Pre-U: How many teaching hours are recommended for a Principal Subject?

The number of teaching hours is stated under the 'Guided learning hours' section within each of our syllabus booklets.

The number of guided learning hours for all Cambridge Pre-U Principal Subjects is approximately 380 over the course (normally two years). The figure needs to be compared to that for our A level subjects, which require approximately 360 guided learning hours.

Cambridge Pre-U Principal Subject courses have been designed to fit into the same proportion of the weekly timetable as an A level course. However, the linear nature of the Cambridge Pre-U course will enable schools to regain the teaching time that is currently lost by the requirement to take AS Level examinations at the end of Year 12. For most schools this will be several weeks, totalling about 40 guided learning hours.
