What are the software requirements for AS & A Level Computer Science?
In respect of programming software, we do not stipulate any specific IDE/source code editors that candidates must use. Candidates are free to choose any industry standard and widely used and popular IDE/source code editor to write their program code for one of the permitted three programming languages: Python, Java, and Visual Basic (.net).
In the practical test for paper 4 (9618) we do however, state that the IDE/source code editor does not have any pre-prepared templates or have any extra library files i.e. it should be a clean basic setup without any additional plugins/library files or any work the candidate has created before the test.
